hCG Diet

hCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is a naturally occurring hormone present in both men and women. hCG may play many roles, but one function it performs is guaranteeing that a developing fetus in a pregnant woman receives the calories and nutrients it needs to grow. hCG does this by releasing the stored fat from the pregnant woman’s body so that it can make its way to the fetus, should it need to. In non-pregnant individuals, research suggests hCG similarly mobilizes abnormal stored fat while simultaneously increasing the basal metabolic rate resulting in the use of this abnormal fat as the body’s new source of energy.

In conjunction with a very low calorie diet (VLCD), hCG allows the body to burn more calories and has been shown to promote weight loss. Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary. Our program also entails a physical exam and blood work. The purpose of this is to ensure there are no underlying medical issues before we begin the diet, such as a thyroid problem, liver disease, or diabetes. Patients attend weekly visits consisting of a weigh in, diet and supplement counseling, and injections of lipotropic agents to speed up the process.
