Ever heard the term “young at heart”? There are many people who, on the inside, may feel younger on the inside than they do on the outside. Sometimes our outside features don’t match how we are on the inside. In some cases, people will turn to Rhytidectomy, better known as a facelift, to make them self appear 10-15 years younger. This procedure is designed to reduce the appearance of aging in the neck and face area. How it does this is by tightening the facial muscles of the skin, and removing the sagging skin in the process. There is also the addition of removing any fatty tissue in different parts of the face. This will then give the face a more youthful appearance once the procedure has been completed.
Over the years techniques for the facelift procedure have continued to change and improve by leaps and bounds. Facelift procedures have continued to improve over the years. They have advanced to the point where there is minimal downtime after the procedure. There is a current procedure known as SMAS (Sub-muscular Aponeurotic System). This method involved the jowls being lifted, which tightens the skin, and lifts the cheeks up.
Basic Information on the Face Lift Procedure in Miami
There is some basic information many of our customers may like to know before going forward with this procedure. We wanted to share this information with any future clients so it’s worry free, and to answer any questions or concerns they may have.
If you’re not looking to get a full facelift procedure, we have another option for you. There is the forehead life/brow lift procedure. This procedure doesn’t involve the full facelift, but instead only lifts the forehead up. This procedure will diminish the wrinkles and creases on the forehead, and those that rest high up on the bridge of the nose.
The facelift procedure is designed around eliminating a large amount of sagging or loose skin in the neck and face area. This means most of our candidates for facelift surgeries are for people who are at least 40 years old. We recommend people who wish to get the facelift surgery should do so if the elasticity in their skin has begun to become less noticeable over the years. Both men and women are also eligible to have the surgery.
A facelift is not permanent, but how long a facelift lasts on a patient varies greatly. The aging process does continue after the procedure. However, patients can enjoy the benefits of the lift for a long time. Patients have been known to regain years of youth back by about 10-15 years in many cases. However, it should be noted that a facelift will help to reduce future sagging in the skin and keep it to a minimum.
Another aspect of the procedure a future patient may be concerned about is pain. There is actually very little pain involved with the procedure itself. A small amount of pain will be noticeable while the healing process will take place, but it’s easy to manage. The pain will pass quickly once a patient is fully healed. Recovery time for the procedure is usually between two to three weeks. The absolute minimum is two weeks. After the procedure, patients are cautioned to avoid strenuous activity for two weeks at the very least.
If you’re curious what a facelift surgery before and after may look like, we have pictures on our site of past patients who have received the procedure. We encourage you to take a look for yourself so you can see the results for yourself.
Alternative to Face Life Procedure
Maybe you’re not looking to get a facelift procedure. You want the benefits, but you don’t want to go through the surgery. So, is there an alternative to the facelift procedure you could turn to? The answer is, yes, you can!
Botox is the alternative you may want to consider. Botox has been used for therapeutic reasons in the past, and what it does is to help prevent muscles spasms. The effects of Botox are not permanent and last three to eight months at most. It has also been approved by the FDA in 2002. Botox has seen been used to also treat moderate and severe frown lines that are between the brows. Botox has been used with successful results ever since for cosmetic use. Patients who are 65 years old can even use Botox safely. How it works is that a form of botulinum toxin type A is first injected into muscles around your brow area. It paralyzes the muscles there, and prevents them from scrunching up. This also means that furrows, wrinkles, and frown lines go away temporarily. Many people turn to this procedure as an alternative to facelift surgery because it’s simple, effective, and carries very little risk for the patients who turn to it.
We know how big a decision it can be to decide if you want to have the best facelift in Miami. Many people are hesitant, and sometimes turn to the alternative instead. Facelift surgeries are long lasting, and there is minimal pain during the healing process. You may have to take some time off of work in order to heal, but the results are worth it afterward. We hope we answered any questions or concerns you may for the procedure. Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions about the procedure.
