More people are seeking out plastic surgery in order to obtain the physical features that they desire. So, what are the cosmetic procedures that people are getting the most? To answer this question, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has released their 2013 results for the United States.
In the report, the organization discovered that there were 15.1 million cosmetic procedures scheduled in 2013. This is an increase of 3% from the previous year. Going deeper into the study, the findings showed that a lot of these procedures were to be expected. For example, breast implants along with Botox remained high on the list. It was also discovered that buttock augmentation and neck lifts were also trending.
Other procedures also experienced an increase. For example, eyelid surgeries and facelifts rose by 6% during this year. Also, soft tissue fillers went up by 13%, and chemical peels increased by 3% from 2012. Scar revision and hand surgery also saw some increases throughout this time period.
Of course, the report also showed some surprising declines. For example, the amount of patients that underwent liposuction decreased by 1%. Nose reshaping also saw a decrease in trend, falling by 9% from the previous year. Laser hair removal was also down by 4%.
While the specifics continue to fluctuate, sometimes in surprising ways, it appears as though cosmetic surgery in general is becoming more accepted by the general population in the United States. More people are looking towards plastic surgery to help achieve the figure that they want in order to gain a higher sense of self-esteem.
